The Montalembert Prize of the first book written by women was created in 2006, through the unique association between the Hotel Montalembert, which is located in the literary area of Paris and the research unit in literature of the “CNRS Écritures de la modernité” (National Center of the Scientific Research).
After having participated in the creation of the competition called  “Georges Sand des nouvelles de femmes” which was in favour of the entry of the women in the literature, Dominique Simon (Écritures de la Modernité) and the journalist/writer Anne Eveillard want to extend this action and to support the young creation of the female literature. It’s thanks to their encounter with Myrian Kournaf, the General Manager of the Hotel Montalembert that has been created the Montalembert Prize.
